Even more cheesy, fake dialogue:

Katie: Oh my goodness, Shannon. I don't know if I can eat all this!
Shannon: Don't worry, Katie. I'll help you! That's why it's "Tea for Two!"
Katie: You're so smart!

I love tea!

Millason: Shannon, I'm so happy now that Eric and I are engaged! Will you get us something tea related for our wedding?
Shannon: Of course, chica! How could I not!?

Can't wait for tea!

Cheesy half-real, half-fake tea conversation (you gotta love it!)

Meredith: I ordered Earl Grey Creme!
Shannon: Me, too! I've had it before. It's really good. I've got some at home. I'll make you some!
Meredith: Oh goody!

Katie, Millason, Meredith and I went to Teany today (check it out: www.teany.com) in NYC. It was a beautiful day, the train was free for students and good friends are reunited for the last year of seminary together! Good times!

Our first dinner party in the apartment!!!!

Katie and I are so happy to be in our apartment! We wasted no time in having our first dinner party the night before classes began. Amy and Jason Morgan and Camille Cook were treated to pork, couscous, salad with HOMEMADE croutons, squash and zuccini, wine, ice tea and brownies and ice cream! Ahhh, this is the life!!!

Sheri was a wonderful hostess!

Sheri is the wife of my supervisor (the pastor of the church). She has two adorable little boys and they are expecting their first baby girl this October!

Lorraine, Kathy and Sharon

Lorraine made my going away cake. Kathy is the director of the Children's Ministry and in the far background is Sharon, the church administrator.

Mendi and I did the Bible Exploration portion of VBS together. Carley helped host the tea party. She has so many fun tea assessories, I was in heaven!

Red heads unite! (Julie and Mary)

Mary and I worked together doing the children's program on Wednesday night and Julie was one of the kids with whom we spend a lot of time.

Tea with the ladies of First Presbyterian, Hanford

In honor of my time at the church this summer some of the women gathered with me for a wonderful tea party. Two of the women, along with myself, provided all the yummy tea goodies! What fun it was!

Places like these never cease to speak to me! The water, the light and shadows, the green and the coolness are all wonderfully present here. I hope heaven has lots of places like this!

For the Beauty of the Earth

I went to Yosemite with my grandparents yesterday. It was really beautiful albeit a tad bit hazy (welcome to CA!). I was surprised by just how many people, from ALL over the world, were there with us to take in the breath-taking scenery of the place!

Move over Martha!

Decided to use my limited artistic/creative talents and do a little centerpiece using the shells I got at the Morro Bay Shell Shop! Eat your heart out, Martha!

They can't wait for my homecooking!

Last night I cooked dinner for Nonnie and Papa, Uncle Gary and his new wife, Joyce. I served Garlic Herb Chicken, Broccoli and Feta Rice, Fruit Salad, Green Salad and homemade Strawberry Shortcakes for dessert. It was delicious! Sometimes, I just can't help but indulge myself and play hostess....So fun!

Poetry for the soul

A certain day became a presence to me;
there is was, confronting me—a sky, air, light:
a being. And before it started to descend
from the height of noon, it leaned over
and struck my shoulder as if with
the flat of a sword, granting me
honor and a task. The day’s blow
rang out, metallic—or it was I, a bell awakened,
and what I heard was my whole self
saying and singing what it knew: I can.
~Denise Levertov

Feeling Homesick and Nostalgic

Sometimes I am a bit slow when it comes to feeling things. For instance, the impact of saying good-bye to loved ones usually hits me about two weeks after the whole business is said and done with...

For the past six weeks I've been in CA doing my field ed at a Presbyterian church in a little town called Hanford (where my grandparents live). I've been enjoying my time and going along with all of the change and adjustment that a new setting brings. I've not been emailing or calling (I'm not much of a phone person to begin with) friends and family all that much. But all of the sudden, it has hit me. I'm homesick. I'm ready to go home. Ready for the familiar! Ready to see my friends again, be in classes, studying like there is no tomorrow... But here I am in CA for another four weeks and then about two weeks at home with my parents in WA and visiting friends in Seattle. I guess times like this are good as they remind you what is most important and that for which you are thankful. I for one am thankful for great friends who know me and love me and for an amazing opportunity to continue my theological education and training at PTS. Oh, don't be mistaken, it has its drawbacks and downsides, as do all good things. But it is a wonderful place to be and I'm thankful I'm able to be there for at least another year!

On another similiar note, I've been nostalgic this weekend. I love to relive "the good 'ole days." Of course my memories might be a little golden around the edges but that's okay every once in a while! Here are some things I've been remembering with warm fuzzies:
-sea shells (especially from the awesome shell shop in Morro Bay where I happily spent my nickels, dimes and quarters on shells on a vacation when I was in 2nd grade)
-cool, cloudy days with maybe even a little misty rain (Seattle does these babies up marvelously!)
-The Cosby Show (used to watch this show every week on Thursday nights growing up. I always had a babysitter as my parents went to their church "kinship" group. I remember sitting on our rust colored carpet and laughing my head off throughout the entire show!)
